Information you provide directly:
- Account information: Your name and email address when you create an account.
- Event details: Event name, date, location, and description when you create an event.
- RSVP information: Your name (and optionally email) when you RSVP to an event as a guest.
- Driver information: Vehicle description and seat count when you offer a carpool.
Information collected automatically:
- Usage data: Pages visited, actions taken, and timestamps (through standard server logs).
- Device information: Browser type and version, operating system, and IP address.
- Authentication session: A session cookie to keep you logged in (see Cookies section).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the carpool coordination Service
- Send email notifications about events you're organizing or attending (RSVP confirmations, carpool assignments)
- Authenticate your account and keep your session secure
- Respond to your support requests and communications
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues
- Analyze aggregate usage to improve the platform
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share information only in these limited circumstances:
- With other event participants: Your name and RSVP status are visible to other attendees of events you join. Driver details (vehicle description, available seats) are visible to event participants.
- With service providers: We use Supabase (database and authentication) and Resend (email delivery). These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by data protection agreements.
- For legal compliance: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with appropriate notice to you.
5. Cookies
We use minimal cookies. Specifically, we use an authentication session cookie to keep you logged in across page loads. This cookie is essential for the Service to function and is deleted when you sign out. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account information and event data as long as your account is active. Event data (including participant lists) may be retained for a reasonable period after the event date for organizer reference. You can request deletion of your data at any time.
7. Your Rights & Data Deletion
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information in your account
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
To delete your account and all associated data, email us at privacy@whospooling.com with the subject “Delete my account”. We'll process your request within 30 days.
8. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication via Supabase, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
